Cache partition

Wipe cache partition

If the phone is not working correctly, you may need to master reset it and also clear the cache partition. These two resets clear different parts of the phone storage. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data.

To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:

Master reset

Master reset from settings menu

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory. See Backup & restore.
  2. Back  up all necessary data that is on the internal memory.
  3. From  any Home screen, touch the Menu key.
  4. Touch Settings.
  5. Scroll  to and touch Privacy.
  6. Touch Factory data reset.
  7. Check/uncheck Erase SD card, if desired.
  8. Touch Reset phone.
  9. Touch Erase everything.


Master reset with hardware keys

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory. See Backup & restore.
  2. Back up all necessary data. See: Preparing for a master reset on Android.
  3. Turn off the phone.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power/Lock keys.
  5. Wait 3 seconds and then press and hold the Back and Menu keys.
    • Note: If you see the LG logo before pressing the Back and Menu keys, the reset hasnt been completed and you will need to restart.
  6. Release the Power/Lock key after you see the LG logo.
  7. Release the remaining keys after the LG logo flashes (blinks once).
  8. The Android Unpacking screen appears.
  9. The phone will restart and complete the factory reset.
  10. Note: If you unintentionally press the Volume Down, Volume Up and Power keys simultaneously, the phone will display a circle icon with two arrows and 'S/W Upgrade, Please wait while upgrading...' message. You will need to pull the battery and restart.




Safe mode

Turn on and use safe mode

Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily remove all apps that may be causing a conflict or software problem.

To turn on safe mode and use it to fix app problems, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the battery from the phone.
  2. Re-insert the battery.
  3. Once the phone is off, press and hold the Power button until the LG logo appears on the screen.
  4. Release the Power key.
  5. Once the flying Android appears on the screen, press and hold the Menu key (on the myTouch Q, press and hold the Menu key on the keyboard) until the home screen loads.
  6. Release the Menu key.
  7. Safe Mode will display in the bottom left corner.


Turn off safe mode

To turn off safe mode, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Touch Power off.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Re-insert the battery.
  5. Press the Power key to turn on the device, but do not touch any keys during the restart.
